The Equiery's Spring/Summer Interns

The Equiery’s internship program began in 2003 and introduces high school and college students to all aspects of publishing a monthly magazine, from designing ads, writing articles and photo editing, to customer service, database updates and social media and web archiving. Equiery interns have gone on to work in a variety of areas including other publications, nonprofit organizations and public relation firms. The Equiery accepts interns year-round. If you are interested in becoming an Equiery intern, please contact Katherine Rizzo at or call 1-800-244-9580 x107.

Elizabeth Scully

Elizabeth grew up in Owings Mills and she currently attends Sacred Heart School in Glyndon. Her love of equestrian photography inspired her to want to work with The Equiery and this spring she has been taking pictures for the magazine at all the Maryland Spring Steeplechase races. Through this internship, she has been able to work with noted equestrian photographers in the area and has gained additional knowledge about capturing the best action shots.

Elizabeth has been riding for eight years and owns two horses: Hi Hopes Dream With Me (Dreamer), a POA/Welsh cross who she foxhunts, and Girlsruletheworld (Kitkat), a sassy bay OTTB with whom she does hunter shows, trail riding and hunter paces. Elizabeth has had some big achievements throughout her riding career including placing second at the Harrisburg Hunt Night 35 and Under Over Fences division. She won the Jr. North American Field Hunter Championship First Flight 12 and Under division.

Elizabeth looks forward to lots of riding and possibly working at a racing barn this summer. Next year Elizabeth will enter her first year of high school at Maryvale Prep.
